A college campus, by definition, is a place of learning, of personal and professional growth, where ideas are debated and problems resolved. Where issues are confronted and truth is revealed. All of these interactions require us to communicate with one another and, in the context of a learning institution, to do so collegially.
On 6/21/16, when asked what the campus should focus on in 2016-2017, participants in the Chancellor’s Advisory Council identified civility as one important area on which to spend our energy. The Administrative Staff, on 8/5/16, concurred. The extra focus brought together members of the C4ward on Civility, the Violence Prevention Task Force, and representatives from each AGO, the effects of which can be seen in this website and in the ongoing efforts to promote a culture of respect and civility at Kapi‘olani Community College.
